60 Years Ago Today-The Crickets Released Timeless “I Fought The Law” Single

60 years ago today (12/4/60), following the death of Buddy Holly, The Crickets (without Buddy) released the single ‘I Fought the Law’ on Coral Records. Written by Sonny Curtis of the Crickets, a remake by the Bobby Fuller Four became a top-ten hit for the band in 1966 and was also recorded by The Clash in 1979 after Joe Strummer and guitarist Mick Jones heard the song on a jukebox in San Francisco. The song has been covered by almost every rock band at one stage or another including The Grateful Dead in the ’90s. Listen to the classic song in full below…
