70 Years Ago Today – Late Great Buddy Miles of Band of Gypsys is Born (Listen “Who Knows”)

70 years ago today (9/5/47), Buddy Miles of Jimi Hendrix’s Band of Gypsys was born. As a founding member of The Electric Flag (1967), a member of Jimi Hendrix’s Band of Gypsys (1969–1970), founder and leader of the Buddy Miles Express and later, the Buddy Miles Band, Miles played with funky attack that gelled with Hendrix’s bluesy dynamics and his other work.  Miles also appeared on two songs on Hendrix’s Electric Ladyland, but is best remembered for his time with the power trio Band of Gypsys.  Miles died on 2/26/08 from heart disease. Listen to the always rapturous “Who Knows” live..
