75 Years Ago Today- Otis Redding, The King of Soul Was Born (Watch ‘Satisfaction’ Live ’67)

75 years ago today, Otis Redding, The King of Soul was born. Yup, hard to believe that if Redding had’t perished in a plane crash at age 26 in 1967, he’d be younger than Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan and Phil Lesh. Redding’s recordings were produced by Stax Records and helped define sound of Stax and Memphis, TN/ Shortly before his death, Redding wrote and recorded his iconic “(Sittin’ on) The Dock of the Bay” with Steve Cropper. Watch the King take on the Stones’ “Satisfaction” live at Monterey ’67.
