75 years ago today *4/18/43), drummer Clyde Stubblefield one of the funkiest drummer of em all, who played on many of James Brown’s recordings, was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee. When hip-hop emerges in the ’80s and ’90s, many of the tracks sample his drums, such as “Say It Loud – I’m Black and I’m Proud” and “Cold Sweat.” Stubblefield passed away at age 73 in 2017.
