90 years ago today, saxophonist John “Trane” Coltrane was born on 9/23/26. Coltrane is considered of the most influential jazz musicians ever as well one of the greatest saxophonists of all time, and the pioneer of improvisational and free jazz. Coltrane passed away at age 40 in 1967 from live cancer, but his lasting legacy and influence has only increased ten fold.
