Happy 50th birthday today to the somewhat reclusive yet brilliant lyricist and songwriter Jeff Mangum (born 10/24/70) of Neutral Milk Hotel and various Elephant 6 projects. His most noteworthy musical achievement is the 1998 classic In the Aeroplane Over the Sea, a haunting folk record that went from cult classic to renowned masterpiece.
