51 years ago today Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder was born in Evanston, IL, with the name Edward Louis Severson III. 1964. Late in 1990, Vedder recorded vocals for the three songs to music he received via friend Jack Irons from a Seattle band who was looking for a lead singer. The three songs would later become Pearl Jam’s “Alive”, “Once”, and “Footsteps.” Vedder got the job as front-man for Mookie Blaylock later to become Pearl Jam. The rest is history.
