Happy 60th birthday today to Ira Kaplan of Yo La Tengo who was born on 1/7/57. To epitome of the truest “indie” musician, Kaplan formed Yo La Tengo in the early 80’s following years spent as a music journalist. Yo La Tengo has kept it indie in a variety of forms as the band continues to refrain from ever consider selling out, while keeping it really on smaller labels and venues, while building an essential catalog of albums.
