70 years ago today (11/22/46) bassist Aston “Family Man” Barrett, who defined the instrument’s role in reggae as a member of Bob Marley’s band The Wailers, is born in Kingston, Jamaica. Barrett also played on records by Burning Spear, Augustus Pablo, and John Denver. Currently Barrett is the creative force and leader of the Wailers touring ensemble.
