Happy 70th birthday today to Wayne Kramer, guitarist, singer, songwriter of MC5 (Motor City 5) who was born on 4/30/48. Best known for their energetic live performances, one of which was recorded as their 1969 debut album Kick Out the Jams. Kick Out the Jams: The 50th Anniversary Tour will be kicking off on September 5th in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and runs through the end of October, concluding with two nights in MC5’s native Detroit. Each show will feature a full album performance of MC5’s seminal album, Kick Out the Jams, plus an encore of other MC5 material. Aside from Kramer the band consists of Kim Thayill, Brendan Canty, King’s X bassist Dug Pinnick, and Zen Guerrilla frontman Marcus Durant.
