75 years ago today, arguably the greatest rock guitarist ever, Jimmy Page was born on 1/9/44. Page’s guitar influence is tremendous through his work with both The Yardbirds and Led Zeppelin. Through his pioneering riffs, soloing and dual guitar harmonies to name a few just about every rock guitarist in the 70’s has been influenced by Page’s work and the Led Zeppelin catalog still holds as much vitality and presence today as countless people still listen to get “the led out.” Check out Page performing “Achilles Last Stand” from Knebworth in 1979 – a song that like several others the band had recorded which involved guitar overdubs, was challenging to adapt for live performances on stage, but Page pulls it off like a champion.
