Happy 75th Birthday Christine McVie of Fleetwood Mac (Watch “Oh Daddy” Live Japan ’77)

Happy 75th birthday today to Christine McVie of Fleetwood Mac who was born on 7/12/43. Even die-hard Fleetwood Mac fans forget (or never knew) that English-born McVie was part of the band’s first incarnation as a British blues act whose intermittent success and ever-changing lineup prevented them from widespread success. The Fleetwood Mac that people (especially Americans) tend to think of is the band’s California reinvention of the mid-‘70s, a reinvention that brought Lindsay Buckingham and Stevie Nicks on board, but its the very real, very substantial contributions that Christine McVie made to the group’s success that helped make the band one of the biggest ever. Watch Mcvie perform “Oh Daddy” live in Japan ’77..
