Happy 75th birthday today to Velvet Underground founding member John Cale who was born on 3/9/42. Renowned for his experimental work and various rock styles, Cale left the Velvet Underground in 1968 and has since released approximately 39 albums. Along with collaborating with a huge list of artists including LCD Soundsystem, Animal Collective, The Stooges, Brian Eno, Patti Smith, The Replacements and more, Cale has is best know for his album Paris 1919, along with his mid-1970s Island Records trilogy of albums: Fear, Slow Dazzle and Helen of Troy.
