Happy Birthday today to rock pioneer and legend Chuck Berry who was born on 10/18/26. As perhaps the very first “rock” performer to hit 90, Berry is one of the first to turn R & B into what we now call rock and roll and his influence his massive, laying inspiration to Keith Richards, Bob Weir, Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton and pretty much all rock bands from the 60’s and 70’s. With songs such “Maybellene”, “Roll Over Beethoven”, “Rock and Roll Music,” and “Johnny B. Goode” Berry helped develop a lexicon of rock that is both pure and sounds powerful still today.
