Pullin’ ‘Tubes: Frightened Rabbits

When you name your band White Rabbits you’re bound to inadvertently confuse some into thinking you’re a not so cleverly named Jefferson Airplane tribute band and not an up and coming indie-rock band that is on the verge of breaking out. This Brooklyn-based six-piece, that uniquely utilizes the services of two drummers, though is in fact the latter. So get used to seeing their name a lot in the coming weeks as the band will release their fantastic sophomore effort It’s Frightening on May 19.

Produced by Spoon’s Britt Daniel, the album is chocked full of propulsive drumming mixed with jangly piano rock that at times doesn’t sound too far off from Daniel’s own band and can even be compared to the Cold War Kids. Let’s check out the video for the first single, Percussion Gun…

White Rabbits will kick off their twenty-eight date US tour on May 21 with a hometown gig at New York City’s Bowery Ballroom, which will also include notable stops at both the Bonnaroo and All Points West festivals.

  1. Not sure if you aware, but there is a band named Frightened Rabbit, which I thought your article was referencing. They are from Scotland, and considerably better than the White Rabbits. Just my two cents.

  2. I’m with Jeff’s implication.
Particularly as you’re aware of the inevitable confusion, I’d recommend changing the title of the article.
