Fiona Apple Teases New Album With ‘Every Single Night’

It’s been seven years since the last Fiona Apple studio album, and while fans already got a quick glimpse into the new record when Apple played three songs on her March tour, the first studio cut to be released is lead single "Every Single Night," which debuted on Soundcloud today.

It’s reminiscent of Extraordinary Machine‘s penchant for quirky, thoughtful percussion, but it channels a lot of the singer’s 90’s work in the vocals while also leaving the listener with a sense that Apple is exploring new territory. The melody is in no way traditional and the lyrics are dense enough to take repeated listens to untangle. Even so, it’s daring, forceful and utterly rewarding.

For more information about Apple’s upcoming album The Idler Wheel… (due out June 19th), visit her website. Glide Magazine staff writer Jeff DeMars recently reviewed Apple’s Washington, DC show in March, in which he discusses the live renditions of the three new songs "Every Single Night," "Valentine" and "Anything We Want." Read it here.

Fiona Apple will embark on an extensive summer tour to promote The Idler Wheel, hitting theaters and mid-markets throughout North America, including a festival date at The Governer’s Ball. Tour dates can be found here.
