SONG PREMIERE: Seth Swirsky Drops Striking Power Pop Anthem “Sunny Day”

Storied singer-songwriter and producer Seth Swirsky is a tried and true renaissance man — from writing countless #1 singles for the likes for Taylor Dayne (“Tell it to My Heart”), Tina Turner, Celine Dion, Air Supply, Smokey Robinson, Michael McDonald, Olivia Newton-John, and others; in addition to writing 5 bestselling books on subjects ranging from baseball to self-help; to his multi-award winning documentary Beatles Stories; and the gallery show of his abstract expressionist paintings in Santa Monica, he’s done it all. Now, Swirsky is back with a brand new musical project of his own, an album entitled Songs From The Green Couch, due April 8 via Lolipop Records and produced by Rob Campanella of Brian Jonestown Massacre.

Glide is premiering the LP’s first single, “Sunny Day,” which is just as it’s title suggests — ultra warm, upbeat, and power-pop-esque, as if Revolver era Beatles and early Guided by Voices stepped into the studio together. Speaking on the record’s debut single, he wrote:

“All of these offbeat, chaotic images of ballerina’s posing on cherry trees and wheels spinning backwards and broken clocks came to me when I first got the melody for the song. Then I thought, none of that matters—just as long as the ‘sun’s shining.’ That’s kind of my philosophy of life— that even in the midst of the everyday, omnipresent chaos of our lives, the sun still shines —and if you can stop and feel it on your face, it’s a reminder that life is so good.”

Songs From The Green Couch is out April 8th, and “Sunny Day” is out via all DSPS tomorrow, on Lolipop Records.
