WATCH: Thee Sacred Souls Keep It Smooth With “Easier Said Than Done” On ‘Kimmel’

On the last day of November 2022, Thee Sacred Souls continued their killer takes on the soul genre with a gorgeous performance of their hit “Easier Said Than Done” on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Their self-titled debut album was released in late August and ever since has been on a steady rise as one of the next great soul acts to sign to the ever-impressive Daptone Records roster.

The trio of drummer Alex Garcia, bassist Sal Samano, and their lead vocalist/resident songwriter Josh Lane began releasing independent singles back in 2020 and were instantly revered for their new-age approach to classic soul harmonies with hints of R&B structures. It was only two years after they introduced themselves to the world that we got their critically-acclaimed debut, the 12-song self-titled LP is centered around lush chord progressions and lyrics that are penned as love letters to not only a significant other but to the band’s roots in the retro-soul sound.

Their debut on late at night was filled with smooth harmonies delivered with ease. The trio was joined by two background singers while the band was filled out by a keyboardist and guitarist. Lane’s falsetto gets amplified when heard through the rawness of a live performance, the band’s structure seems even more direct than on the record but still doesn’t take away from their signature effortless approach that makes their music so enticing.
