Pullin’ ‘Tubes: The Secret’s Out

In the decade since the runaway success of the  O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack – which took home the Grammy for Album Of The Year in 2002, and has sold over seven millions copies to date – T. Bone Burnett has been the go to producer for modern day roots music. Burnett, who has had a startling success rate and a mantle full of awards to confirm it, was so inspired when he heard the music of The Secret Sisters that he launched his own label Beladroit Records just so he could put their album out himself.

Hailing from the historically music rich city of Muscle Shoals, AL the duo of Lydia and Laura Rodgers combine sweet as honey sounding vocals with traditional country, folk and pop sounds. The pair’s highly recommended self-titled debut, which hits stores last month, features a mix of covers from the likes of  Hank Williams, Buck Owens and Frank Sinatra, along with a handful of tunes written by the Rodgers sisters. Take a listen to their take on the traditional folk ballad Do You Love An Apple…
