Portland Oregon loves the Yonder Mountain String band, which was clearly evident in listening to the adoring cheers heard after each song.
The String Cheese Incident had come to Portland ME and Hampton NH(towns a little more than an hour apart) for a four consecutive night run that proved to be a northeast dream run come true.
Without a drum set or a light show, Yonder Mountain String Band never fails to entertain.
As the flooding continues across the eastern seaboard, so does the music. On Wednesday night at the Mercury Lounge in Manhattan a twin bill of bare bones rock and rollers took the stage. The Detroit Cobras with openers Reigning Sound hit the Big Apple only a few shows into their national tour. While the rains fell outside, the brew and tunes swam inside.
Keegan Ales celebrated their second year of brewing fine ale by hosting a concert with two exceptional bands, in of all places, right in the brewery. The stage was set amongst the kegs, sacks of hops and barley, and other things, but the sound was surprisingly good considering the venue was essentially warehouse space with brewing equipment.
The Brothers Past, three days into a month long tour, hit Burlington with a hard punch to the head. The show at Higher Ground was a duel headlining gig with The New Deal. Both sides of the club would take turns presenting each band back to back, and his night really exemplified why having two “clubs” in one for Higher Ground can make live music so interesting.
