Umphrey’s McGee Returns to the East Coast

Last night in Charlotte Umphrey’s McGee kicked off a three week tour that will take the prog-rockers from the East Coast to the Midwest and back again. Along the way the Chicago-based sextet will hit a number of cities and venues they missed in 2007 including the Egyptian Theatre in DeKalb (04/08), the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville (4/17) and New Haven’s Toad’s Place (4/13).

Umphrey’s concludes their first jaunt to the east coast in 2008 with two Green Apple Music and Arts Festival appearances: at Ram’s Head in Baltimore on the 4/19 and a free performance on the National Mall in Washington D.C. on 4/20.

The band continues to make great strides in their vocal abilities, jamming techniques and setlist construction. If you haven’t seen the band in a while, perhaps now’s a good time to see where they’re at. Unless of course you harbor a secret resentment for a buncha guys who practice non-stop everyday.

For a taste of what you can expect be sure to check out iClips’s webcast of Umphrey’s show in St. Louis on Saturday night. Read on for a full list of dates…
