During the peak hours of the year I search for tapes on my usual sites and realize: Oh, all the big dogs are out at the same time. And that’s what this week’s edition is going to be, four of the biggest touring acts that allow taping every night: Dave Matthews Band, Furthur (Featuring Bob Weir & Phil Lesh), Phish and Widespread Panic.

This three song encore segment features the title track from the 2002 DMB album, a tune from 2009’s Big Whiskey & the GrooGrux King, and of course the DMB-cover staple All Along The Watchtower. Also of note, Dave has been playing a solo rendition of Neil Young’s Needle And The Damage Done this tour. DMB plays tonight at the Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden, NJ.

B List: 10 Best Defunct Jam Sites

Most fan sites are a labor of love, so it’s not a surprise that the average lifespan of your typical fan site is extremely short. All it takes is getting a new job or a change in lifestyle to take away the free time that allows the creators of these sites to provide new content for their readers.

For today’s B List we’ve put together a list of ten sites that are gone but not forgotten. A few of ’em still exist but aren’t active anymore. Check out our list and then let us know some of your faves from the Jamband Website Graveyard by leaving a comment after the post…

1. Phans.com

While Andy Gadiel’s Phish Page (remember the http://www.cps.msu.edu/~gadielan/phish address??) was the homepage for nearly every Phish fan I knew in the late ’90s, Phans.com was the second best fan site out there for years and years. Combining a message board with surveys, news, phacts of the week and all sorts of other intriguing content, the site provided hours of entertainment for the group’s followers. Site creator Beeno posted something on Phans.com when last year’s Hampton shows were announced, but other than that there’s been no content on the portal.

2. The Greenhaus Effect

Relix/Jambands.com Executive Editor clearly has his hands full running both publications, but before he took on the added responsibilities that come with his current title, he ran a semi-regularly updated blog called The Greenhaus Effect that always had interesting content. Mikey’s prose and work ethic have served as an inspiration to me as I got into the writing game and I always loved reading his first-person accounts on The Greenhaus Effect. Hopefully one day he’ll resurrect the site (hint, hint, hint).

Crossroads Guitar Festival: Toyota Park, Chicago, IL 6/26/10

The dream originated in 2004 when Eric Clapton decided to gather the top guitarists in the world to share the same stage for a hot summer weekend festival in Dallas, Texas. Since then, Crossroads has returned every third year, the last happening at Toyota Park in 2007 and back again at the same venue now in 2010. Having collaborated with so many amazing musicians over the years and honoring many of the legendary blues guitar heroes from long ago, Clapton has paid tribute to those who have influenced him throughout his career and those whom he admires. The day-long festival is a benefit for The Crossroads Centre in Antigua, a treatment center for chemically dependent persons, founded by Clapton himself in 1998. With the help of his friends and peers, Eric Clapton once again succeeded in assembling some of the best collaborative performances on the greatest of stage, and it’s all for a good cause.

Rush Kicks Off Tour in Albuquerque

Rush’s Time Machine Tour started last night at the Hard Rock Pavilion in Albuquerque, NM, where the prog rock pioneers filled two lengthy sets with classics, rarities and 1981’s Moving Pictures in its entirety to open set two. We’ll hold off on posting details about the rarities that are part of the setlist until after the jump for those who don’t want their Rush experience spoiled as the band tends to stick to the same setlist at each stop on the tour.

You can always count on Rush to have an interesting setup and for this tour they’ve added a cool H.G. Wells-looking Time Machine to the stage. It also appears as if drummer Neil Peart has added even more pieces to his ridiculously large drum kit. As with past tours, each set begins with a video and here’s the clip that introduces Tom Sawyer for set two…
