The Black Crowes: Best Buy Theater, New York, NY 11/5/10

Hopefully the dreaded H word doesn’t last too long for The Black Crowes as they have never been more “on” over their entire career.  With progressive albums and electrifying tours, it is a shame they are putting it to bed, here’s wishing also that Luther Dickinson keeps bringing his magic on that day when the Crowes do come back to roost.

B List: 10 Great Places to Stream Live Music

Over the past four years, we’ve pointed you in the direction of many live music downloads through our MP3 Boot Camp and Grousing The Aisles columns as well as within our various link dump columns. Many of our readers peruse Hidden Track from work – and lately through mobile devices – and we realize that sometimes downloading live sets isn’t an option. For those situations a stream of these live recordings works much better.

Last week, we kicked off a new series called Irregular Streams in which we highlight a listen-able stream you might not have found on your own. The new column got us thinking about all the sources for live music streams out there and for this week’s B List we’ve prepared a list of our ten favorite sources for these streams. Here’s what we came up with…

10. PanicStream

While there’s no denying that PanicStream.com is focused on the music of Widespread Panic, over the past 12 months or so the amount of shows from other artists that you can stream through the site has grown dramatically. From A Perfect Circle to ZZ Top there are over 100 wide-ranging acts with streams hosted on PanicStream.com. Meanwhile, PS’s live Widespread Panic collection continues to expand and even has some complete years worth of shows available to stream.

Recommended Gems: Beastie Boys – 05/22/1992, Sublime – 10/21/1995, Talking Heads – 08/23/1980 and Widespread Panic – 04/27/1997
