35 years ago Rick James released his fifth album Street Song via Gordy Records. “Give It to Me Baby”, the lead song and single from the album, became James’ second number one single on the R&B chart. It spent five weeks at the top spot. The fifth song on the album, “Super Freak”, also became one of James’ biggest hits. Nine years later, MC Hammer’s 1990 hit “U Can’t Touch This” sampled it.
