The best thing that can be said about God Save the Clientele is that it’s so consistent that it’s quite scary. Whether you’re enjoying short gems like “Carnival On 75th Street” or the urgent feel on “No Dreams Last Night,” you feel as if they’ve been possessed by The Go-Betweens in their prime. A great album!

As they say in Elaine Benes’ office, “Get well, get well soon, we wish you to get well.” A hearty “Get Well Soon” goes out to Mark Karan, who will be unable to join RatDog on its summer tour due to a lump on his neck that may or may not be cancerous. Karan will be replaced for an undetermined time period by Steve Kimock. As expected, Grateful Dead fans seem to be excited for KimDog, as evidenced by the SummerStage show selling out yesterday. Hopefully Kimock won’t bail on the tour after a few shows like he did to Phil Lesh in October of ’99.

A solo album we've been hearing about for a while,Sirens of the Ditch, finally drops from New West on July 10, and he will also kick off a tour with a new group, the 400 Unit, the day before. The group, which includes Isbell's Muscle Shoals pals Jimbo Hart, Ryan Tillery, and Browan Lollar, will hit major U.S. markets through the end of August, wrapping up in Chattanooga on August 31.
