Review: Newport Folk Festival Pt. 3
Day two at the Newport Folk Festival couldn’t have been more different than the first day. The crowd seemed much bigger, and when I arrived at Fort Adams around 1PM every single inch of grass in front of the Main Stage was already claimed. Not only were there more people, but there were hundreds of boats in the harbor surrounding the stage filled with Buffett-loving sailors.

Everything was different on the second day including the vibe, which was much more festive and lively. I’m sure the marvelous weather also helped. Upon arriving, I ran to the Main Stage to check out the pride of Tucson, Arizona: Calexico. From the moment I told all of my friends that I was heading to Newport for the folk festival they all told me not to miss Calexico, and I’m glad I didn’t. The sextet delivered a eclectic blend of indie rock, folk and tejano music that sounded like a mix of Los Lobos and Arcade Fire. READ ON for more from the Newport Folk fest…
