Believe it or not, today is actually Jon Fishman’s 44th birthday. Not only is it his birthday, but he’s also up to something good. Tonight will be the first of two shows that Fish plays with the Jazz Mandolin Project. JMP rolls into the brand new Port City Music Hall in Portland, Maine tonight before taking the act to Burlington’s Club Metronome tomorrow. I’m making the trek from Boston tonight, I’m a big JMP fan and I’m excited to watch Fish play in a bar atmosphere before once again destroying arenas in as soon as two weeks.

HA Fish.

The Dresden Dolls: The Sugar Club, Dublin, Ireland 2/16/09

The Sugar Club may be one of the only place I enjoy going to in Dublin for live music.  It looks like a cinema-theatre, a place where everyone can see what is happening on the stage while being seated.  Amanda confirms later on her appreciation of the venue “This looks like fucking civilized”. The gig was sold out, which was no surprise because this is the front woman of the internationally known punk cabaret band “The Dresden Dolls”.
